~About~

Hi!
So, I'm guessing you'd like to know more about me lol. I guess the first thing I should do is explain why I made this blog.

Personal Experience with the Internet:

I'm someone who grew up with the "Stranger Danger" attitude in regards to the Internet, and spent my time online anonymously. This anonymous online existence is something I've held onto for the most part even now into my adulthood. While the connections made possible through social media are wonderful, I also miss when it wasn't expected for you to have your whole being put out there for anyone to see. It's why I don't really have social media; I appreciate the privacy. To be honest, it kind of weirds me out to have strangers know my face and name. So, as you can imagine, in a world where this has become commonplace, I find myself wishing for the anonyminity that was expected and encouraged when I was younger. (Not to sound like a "What happened to the good ol' days!" complainer lol.)

Enter, Neocities.

I have heard people talking about Neocities for probably two or three years now, but only within the last year did I decide to look into it. (By looking into it, I mean looking at the Wikipedia page and making an account.) I thought that bringing back personal webpages was a great way to get that feeling back of the Internet I grew up with, and HTML coding would be a good thing to learn. While I know that JavaScript is likely more useful, I had a bad introduction into it in highschool and I don't think I'm quite ready to try it again. (Long story short: My teacher "taught" us JavaScript by telling us to complete a KhanAcademy course on it towards the end of the semester. I did not have fun, as you can imagine lol.) Anyway, despite my not-so-fun experiences coding with JavaScript and Notepad C++, I've decided to try HTML as it's less painful than the other two to learn. I think having something to work on aside from coursework will be good for me. I draw as well, but currently I can't do it too much due for personal reasons, and I frankly don't always have the time to throw myself into art pieces during the semester.
